Kevin Spy had known the other band members since childhood, when they all played volleyball together. It is quite coincidental that he too was an aspiring musician.
Studying the guitar, Kevin was influenced by such guitar greats as Jimmy Page and Pete Townshend. As he grew older, he went about his own way in his development as a musician, playing with various groups, until several years later when, one night, Sam and Dave heard him play at a party.
They had long known of Kevin's guitar prowess, and had the greatest respect for him as a musician of superb ability who has a true passion for his music. Soon afterward, they approached him about joining State of Nature. Kevin gladly accepted the invitation.
Kevin's joining State of Nature was more than the band gaining a new guitarist, but it was the formation of a cohesive group of people whose friendship had spanned many years. That cohesiveness contributes to the overall synergy of the band and their music, and with Kevin's guitar mastery the band's musical synergy was elevated to a new level.
